Rear Side Impact Sensor Removal and Installation

Rear Side Impact Sensor Removal And Installation

CAUTION:
- Never repair or disassemble rear side impact sensor.
- Do not cause vibration or impact to sensor.
- Be careful when handling sensor so as not to cause vibration or impact including dropping. If rear side impact sensor has been dropped, replace it even if there is no defect in appearance. Replace it with new one in case of defect such as deformation and cracks.
- Install sensor and connect connector securely. Improper installation can cause malfunction.


Removal
1. Disable air bag system.
2. Remove rear seat and bolster.
3. Disconnect rear side impact sensor connector (2) as show in figure.
a. Release lock (1).
b. Disconnect connector with lock released.

4. Remove rear side impact sensor bolt (3) and remove rear side impact sensor (4) from rear pillar inner panel.






Installation
1 Check that none of the following faulty conditions exists.
- Bend, deformation or rust on quarter inner panel.
- Foreign material on sensor.

2. Align mounting pin (1) to mounting hole (2) of vehicle to install rear side impact sensor (3) securely.
3. Tighten rear side impact sensor bolt to specified torque.

Tightening torque
Rear side air bag bolt (a): 9 N.m (0.9 kg-m, 6.5 lbf-ft)

4. Connect rear side impact sensor connector securely.






5. Install bolster.
6. Install rear seat.
7. Enable air bag system.
