System Description/Monitoring Procedure
The camshaft position (CMP) control system enables to change the timing of the camshafts while the engine is operating. The ECM controls the CMP actuator. The CMP actuator controls the advance or the retard of each camshaft. The CMP actuator controls the oil flow that applies the pressure to advance or retard the camshafts. The ECM monitors misalignment between camshafts and crankshaft. Once the ECM learns the position of camshafts, the ECM compares the learned values to a reference value derived from crankshaft position. If learned values are out of specified range, the ECM will set DTC.
