Toe Inspection and Adjustment: Adjustment

CAUTION: Make sure that rack boot is not twisted.
Otherwise, rack boot may be broken.
  1. Check tie-rod length referring to TIE-ROD END INITIAL POSITION SETTING (HYDRAULIC TYPE) or TIE-ROD END INITIAL POSITION SETTING (ELECTRIC) . If necessary, adjust tie-rod initial length.
  2. Loosen tie-rod end lock nuts.
  3. Tighten or loosen right and left tie-rods by same amount to align toe to specification.
  4. After adjustment, tighten lock nuts to specified torque.

    Tightening torque 

    Tie-rod end lock nut (a): 45 N.m (4.5 kg-m, 32.5 lbf-ft)
