Fuel System Check: Troubleshooting

TROUBLESHOOTING CHART

Step Action YES NO
1  Fuel pump check 
  1. Turn ignition switch to ON position, confirm fuel pump operating sound from near fuel pump. It should sound for about 2 seconds and stop.

Is it in good condition? 		 Go to Step 2. Check fuel pump circuit, see Fuel Pump and Its Circuit Check .
2  Fuel pressure check 
  1. Check fuel pressure, see Fuel Pressure Check .

Is it in good condition? 		 Go to Step 3. Repair or replace faulty component.
3  Power balance test 
  1. Check power balance, see Power Balance Test .

Is it in good condition? 		 Fuel system is in good condition. Go to Step 4.
4  Fuel injector circuit check 
  1. Check fuel injector circuit, see Fuel Injector Circuit Check .

Is it in good condition? 		 Go to Step 5. Repair or replace faulty component.
5  Fuel injector check 
  1. Check fuel injector. see FUEL INJECTOR INSPECTION .

Is it in good condition? 		 Substitute a known-good ECM and recheck, see ECM (ENGINE CONTROL MODULE) REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION . Repair or replace faulty component.
