Power Balance Test
Power Balance TestCAUTION: Never increase engine speed higher than idling speed when power balance test has been performed. It could damage the engine.
NOTE: For identification of each cylinder, refer to Precautions for Identification of Cylinder.
1. For 4 A/T model, place select lever in "P" and apply parking brake.
For 5 M/T model, place gear shift lever in "Neutral" and apply parking brake.
2. Warm up engine to normal operating temperature.
3. Disconnect fuel injector connector (1) for cylinder No.1.
4. Check that engine speed decreases from specified idle speed.
5. Repeat Step 3) and Step 4) for all cylinders, compare rates of engine speed decrease.
6. If rates of engine speed decrease are not in scale, check following items.
- Fuel injector circuit.
- Fuel injector.
- Spark plug.
- Ignition coil circuit.
- Ignition coil.
- Engine compression.
7. Clear DTC.
