Transmission Case Cover and 1-2 Reverse Clutch Assembly Installation

  1. Remove any sealant and automatic transmission fluid from the contacting surfaces of the transmission case cover and the transmission case.
    NOTE: Do not get any fluid on the contacting surfaces of the transmission case cover or the transmission case.
  2. Apply a 3 mm (1/8 in) bead of sealant GM P/N 89020326 (Canadian P/N 89021188), to the transmission case cover.

  3. Install the transmission case cover assembly (19) onto the transmission case assembly (17).

  4. Apply threadlocker GM P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489), to the threads of all the case cover bolts.
  5. Install 7 - M8 x 1.25 x 30 mm bolts (20) and hand tighten.
  6. Install 1 - M8 x 1.25 x 45 mm bolt (22) and hand tighten.
  7. Install 2 - M8 x 1.25 x 48 mm bolts (21) and hand tighten.
  8. Install 1 - M8 x 1.25 x 30 mm/M6 x 1.0 x 10 mm double stud (74) and hand tighten.
  9. Install 1 - M8 x 1.25 x 78 mm bolt (77) and hand tighten.

    CAUTION: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  10. Tighten the 12 transmission case cover assembly bolts in sequence.

    Tightening torque 

    Tighten the 12 transmission case cover assembly bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
