Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement

Callout Component Name
Preliminary Procedures 
  1. Remove the steering column. Refer to STEERING COLUMN REPLACEMENT .
  2. Remove the instrument panel retainer. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL RETAINER REPLACEMENT .
  3. Remove the center air outlet duct. Refer to CENTER AIR OUTLET DUCT REPLACEMENT .
  4. Remove the windshield defroster duct. Refer to WINDSHIELD DEFROSTER DUCT REPLACEMENT .
1 Instrument Panel Tie Bar to HVAC Module Assembly Nut (Qty: 2)
CAUTION: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .

Tip:  The nut on the lower left side is driven from front of vehicle rearward.
Tightening torque 
4 N.m (36 lb in) 
2 Instrument Panel Tie Bar to HVAC Module Assembly Bolt (Qty: 3)
Tightening torque 
4 N.m (36 lb in) 
3 Instrument Panel Tie Bar to HVAC Module Assembly Nut (Qty: 2)
Tightening torque 
4 N.m (36 lb in) 
4 Instrument Panel Tie Bar Nut (Qty: 6)
Tightening torque 
9 N.m (80 lb in) 
5 Instrument Panel Tie Bar Bolt (Qty: 6)
Tightening torque 
25 N.m (18 lb ft) 
6 Instrument Panel Tie Bar Assembly
Procedures 
  1. Note location and routing of the instrument panel wiring harness and ground straps prior to removal to ensure proper reinstallation.
  2. Disconnect the instrument panel wiring harness and ground straps from the tie bar assembly.
  3. With the aid of an assistant, lift the tie bar assembly straight up and then rearward removing the tie bar assembly from the vehicle.
