Instrument Cluster Scan Tool Information

Instrument Panel Cluster Scan Tool Data Parameters 

INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER SCAN TOOL DATA PARAMETERS

Parameter Expected Value Definition
Operating Conditions:  Ignition ON
Battery Voltage Varies This displays volts. The scan tool displays the system voltage of the vehicle.
Display Dimming Varies This displays 0-100%. This is the current displays dimming percentage.
Engine Speed Signal 0 RPM This displays 0-9999 RPM. The IPC monitors the engine speed signal circuit from the ECM via serial data.
Ignition 1 Active The scan tool displays Active or Inactive. This is the state of the ignition 1 voltage circuit to the instrument panel cluster (IPC).
LCD Dimming Varies This displays 0-100%. This is the current backlighting dimming percentage.
Passenger Seatbelt Indicator Commanded Off The scan tool displays On or Off. This is the state of the passenger seatbelt indicator command as monitored by the IPC.
Passenger Seatbelt Indicator Status Off The scan tool displays On or Off. This is the status of the passenger seatbelt indicator as monitored by the IPC.
Pointer Dimming Varies This displays 0-100%. This is the current pointer dimming percentage.
Vehicle Speed 0 km/h (0 mph) This displays km/h (mph). This is the current vehicle speed received by the IPC from the ECM via a serial data message.

Instrument Panel Cluster Scan Tool Output Controls 

INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER SCAN TOOL OUTPUT CONTROLS

Scan Tool Output Control Description
Coolant Gauge Sweep The scan tool commands the IPC to sweep the coolant gage between minimum and maximum when selected.
Display Test The IPC illuminates the indicators when you select On.
Fuel Gauge Sweep The scan tool commands the IPC to sweep the fuel gage between minimum and maximum when selected.
Segment Check The IPC varies the backlight intensity.
Speed Gauge Sweep The scan tool commands the IPC to sweep the speedometer gage between minimum and maximum when selected.
Tach Gauge Sweep The scan tool commands the IPC to sweep the tachometer gage between minimum and maximum when selected.
