Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the air hose between the air cleaner and throttle body.
    2. CAUTION: Refer to Batteries Produce Explosive Gases Caution .
  2. Remove the battery from the vehicle.
  3. Remove the transaxle side select and shift control cable pins (1) and the washers (2).
  4. Disconnect the select and shift control cable (3).
  5. Remove the cable E-rings (4).
  6. Disconnect the cables from the cable bracket.

  7. Remove the floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement (Notchback) or Front Floor Console Replacement (Hatchback) .
  8. Move the floor carpet in order to gain access to the gear shift cable.

  9. Remove the gear shift lever side select and shift control cable U-clip.
  10. Remove the eye ring.
  11. Remove the select control cable E-ring.
  12. Disconnect the select control cable.
  13. Remove the shift control cable pin and cable E-ring.
  14. Remove the shift control cable.

  15. Remove the select and shift control cable nuts and pull the cables out in the passenger room.
