Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement .
  2. Disconnect the harness connector at the steering wheel controls switch - left.
  3. Cruise switch ON, test for less than infinite resistance between the steering wheel control supply voltage terminal 1 and the cruise control indicator dimming signal circuit terminal 9 at the terminals of the steering wheel controls switch - left.
    • If the resistance measured is infinite, replace the steering wheel controls switch - left.
  4. Igniting OFF, verify that a test lamp illuminates between B+ and the cruise control indicator dimming signal circuit terminal 9.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the cruise control indicator dimming signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
  5. If all circuits test normal, replace the BCM.
