Second Clutch Assemble

J 28585 Snap Ring Remover
NOTE:
Soak the new clutch plates in automatic transmission fluid for at least 2 hours before replacing them.
- Inspect that the sliding surface of the clutch plates are not worn or burnt. If the clutch plates are worn or burnt, replace them.
- Apply automatic transmission fluid to the new second clutch piston and second clutch piston sleeve seals.
- Install the new second clutch piston outer seal (209) onto the second clutch piston (210).
- Install the new second clutch piston sleeve seals (211, 213) onto the second clutch piston sleeve (212).
- Apply automatic transmission fluid to the inner surfaces of the fluid pump stator shaft assembly.
- Press the second clutch piston (210) and the second clutch piston sleeve (212) into the fluid pump stator shaft assembly.
- Install the second clutch spring assembly retaining ring (214).
- Install the second clutch spring assembly (215) onto the second clutch piston with the spring side up.

NOTE: Make sure you have the correct number of clutch plates, and that they are in the correct order. - Install the 4 steel plates (218) and the 4 fiber plates (217).
- Install the second clutch backing plate (219).
- Using J 28585 install the second clutch backing plate retaining ring (220). Make sure that the end gap of the retaining ring is not aligned with any of the cutouts.
