Crankshaft Balancer Cleaning and Inspection

Cleaning Procedure





1. Clean the crankshaft balancer in solvent that is compatible with the rubber (3).

WARNING: Refer to [Safety Glasses Caution].

2. Dry the crankshaft balancer with compressed air.

Inspection Procedure





1. Inspect the crankshaft balancer for the following:
^ Worn or damaged hub-to-crankshaft surface (1)
^ Worn, grooved or damaged hub seal surface (2)
A crankshaft balancer hub seal surface with excessive scoring, grooves, rust or other damage must be replaced.
^ Worn, chunking or deteriorated rubber between the hub and pulley (3)
^ Damaged drive belt ribs (4)
^ Damaged webs (5)
2. Repair or replace the crankshaft balancer as necessary.
