Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Suzuki Swift +, 2008 Pontiac Wave, and 2008 Chevrolet Aveo. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  1. Install the instrument panel assembly with the right side end screws.

    Tighten:  Tighten the instrument panel bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  2. Install the tie bar retaining bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the tie bar retaining bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  3. Connect the wire harness to the instrument panel.
  4. Install the two nuts to the lower right center of the instrument panel.
  5. Connect ALDL connector with the screws.

  7. Install the instrument panel bolts to the left side of the instrument panel.

    Tighten:  Tighten the instrument panel bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  8. install the two nuts to the lower left center of the instrument panel.
  9. Install the instrument panel bolts above the steering column.

    Tighten:  Tighten the instrument panel bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  10. Install the instrument panel screw behind the HVAC assembly.

    Tighten:  Tighten the instrument panel screw behind the HVAC assembly to 4 N.m (35 lb in).

  12. Install the digital clock. Refer to Clock Replacement (Hatchback) or Clock Replacement (Notchback) .
  13. Install glove box assembly to the instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement .
  14. Install the audio system to the instrument panel. Refer to Radio Replacement (Notchback) or Radio Replacement (Hatchback) .
  15. Install the A/C controller to the instrument. Refer to Heater and Air Conditioning Control Replacement (Hatchback) or Heater and Air Conditioning Control Replacement (Notchback) .
  16. Install the cupholder. Refer to Cupholder Replacement (Hatchback) or Cupholder Replacement (Notchback) .
  17. Install the cigar lighter and ashtray. Refer to Cigar Lighter Housing Replacement and Ashtray Replacement .

  19. Install the instrument panel center vent panel.
  20. Install the instrument panel lower cover.
  21. Connect the necessary electrical connectors.
  22. Install the side cover.
  23. Install the instrument cluster assembly. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement (Notchback) or Instrument Cluster Replacement (Hatchback) .
  24. Install the windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  25. Install the signal lamp switch and the wiper switch. Refer to Turn Signal Multifunction Switch Replacement (Hatchback) or Turn Signal Multifunction Switch Replacement (Notchback) for signal, and refer to Windshield Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement .
  26. Install the steering column trim cover. Refer to Steering Column Replacement (Hatchback) or Steering Column Replacement (Notchback) .
  27. Install the steering wheel to the steering column. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement (Hatchback) or Steering Wheel Replacement (Notchback) .
  28. Install the driver air bag module to the steering wheel, if equipped. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement .
  29. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
