Wipers Do Not Work on Low Speed

  1. Turn the ignition ON.
  2. Turn the wiper switch to LO.
Is battery voltage available at wiper motor connector terminal 5?
11-14 V Go to Step 2  Go to Step 3 
2 Replace the wiper motor. Refer to Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement (Hatchback)  or Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement (Notchback) .
Is the repair complete?
- System OK -

  1. Use an ohmmeter to test the continuity of the wiper switch.
  2. Turn the wiper switch to LO. Check for continuity between the wiper switch terminal 8 and 5.
Is there continuity between terminals 8 and 5?
0 Ω Go to Step 5  Go to Step 4 
4 Replace the wiper switch. Refer to Windshield Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement .
Is the repair complete?
- System OK -
5 Repair the open circuit between the wiper switch connector terminal 5 and the wiper motor connector terminal 5.
