Steering Knuckle Removal And Installation: Removal

  1. Hoist vehicle and remove wheel.
  2. Remove Front wheel hub assembly referring to FRONT WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. 2007 and prior models do not use a castellated tie-rod end nut. Disconnect tie-rod end (1) from steering knuckle (2) with puller (3). On 2008 and later vehicles, remove cotter pin and tie-rod end nut from knuckle. Disconnect tie-rod end by using puller. To facilitate adjustment after installation, put a mark on tie-rod thread indicating position of tie-rod end lock nut. Then loosen lock nut and remove tie-rod end from tie-rod.

  4. Remove front wheel speed sensor (1) from knuckle.
  5. Loosen ball joint nut (2).

  6. Remove strut bracket bolts (2) and nuts (1).

  7. Disconnect ball joint from steering knuckle (2) with puller and then remove steering knuckle (2).
