Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) System
NOTE:
On early vehicles that may or may not be equipped with TPMS, if vehicle is equipped with TPM system, the tire air valve will be Silver.
The Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) system is designed to detect when one or more tires is significantly underinflated. A tire pressure sensor containing a unique identification code is mounted on each wheel. The sensors transmit tire pressure signals to a central receiver, which relays the information to a TPM system controller.
NOTE:
Only up to 4 ID codes of the tire pressure sensor can be registered in TPM system controller. The TPM system controller is not, by default, programmed to recognize the ID code of the tire pressure sensor in the spare tire. The ID must be registered into the system before it will become active.
Under the following conditions, the system may not function properly:
- When a spare tire is in use.
- When the spare tire is included in a tire rotation.
- When a wheel not containing a tire pressure sensor is installed.
- When tire pressure sensor is damaged during tire replacement.
- The tire pressure sensor battery is exhausted.
- If tire pressure sensor has been replaced, and retraining procedure has not been performed.
- If liquid sealants are used to repair a flat tire.
- If electric devices or facilities using similar radio wave frequencies are nearby.
- A lot of snow or ice covers the vehicle, particularly around the wheels or wheelhousings.
- Snow tires or tire chains are used.
- When non-genuine SUZUKI wheels or tires are used.
- When tires other than specified size are used.
