Transmission Inspection Procedure

Transmission inspection procedure:

1. Raise the vehicle on a suitable lift.





2. Drain and remove the oil pan from the side of the transmission according to the directions in the Forenza Service Manual (Oil Pan, Oil Pan Gasket Removal and Installation).

3. Inspect the transmission fluid in the pan for an abnormal amount of metallic gray particulate or burnt transmission fluid.

4. Smell the fluid looking for the strong odor of burnt transmission fluid.

5. If either an abnormal amount metallic particulate or the strong odor of burnt transmission fluid is found DO NOT CONTINUE. Follow the instructions on SW-22 and complete the diagnostic worksheet (SA-57).

6. Contact Suzuki Technical Hotline for assistance in how to proceed with further diagnosis and/or repairs.

7. If directed by the Techline representative to continue repairs or replace the transmission assembly reinstall the oil pan before removal of the transmission from the vehicle.
