Control Rod Removal and Installation: Installation
Reference: CONTROL ROD CHECK
- Install control rod No.1 (1).
- Install control rod No.1 (1), setting it so that its welded nut (8) comes toward the rear.
- Insert inner bolt (4) and outer bolt (3) from the vehicle front and tighten them temporarily by hand.
- Install control rod No.2 (2).
- Install control rod No.2 (2), setting it so that its welded nut (8) comes toward the front.
- Insert control rod No.2 bolt (9) from the vehicle front and outer bolt (3) from the rear.
- Install washer (6) with its graduated part facing down.
- With marks (7) on washer (6) and frame marked before removal aligned to each other, tighten bolts (3) and nut (5) temporarily by hand.
- Install wheels and tighten wheel nuts to specified torque.
- Lower hoist and bounce vehicle up and down to stabilize suspension.
- Tighten control rod bolts and nuts to specified torque with vehicle weight on suspension.NOTE:
- It is the most desirable to have vehicle off hoist and in non-loaded condition when tightening them.
- Tighten control rod No.2 inner nut with match marks (1) aligned.
Tightening torque
Control rod No.1 (front side) inner nut and outer bolt c: 98 N.m (9.8 kg-m, 71.0 lb-ft)
Control rod No.2 (rear side) outer bolt c: 98 N.m (9.8 kg-m, 71.0 lb-ft)
Control rod No.2 (rear side) inner nut d: 90 N.m (9.0 kg-m, 65.0 lb-ft)
- Check rear toe and adjust it as necessary. For check and adjustment procedures, refer to REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT INSPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT .
- Install suspension frame cap.
