MAF sensor check
  1. Connect scan tool to DLC with ignition switch turned OFF.
  2. Start engine and check MAF value displayed on scan tool. Refer to SCAN TOOL DATA  for normal value.

Is normal value indicated?
Intermittent trouble. Check for intermittent referring to INTERMITTENT AND POOR CONNECTION INSPECTION . Go to Step 3.
MAF sensor output voltage check
  1. Remove ECM cover.
  2. With ignition switch turned ON leaving engine stopped, measure voltage between "E61-27" and "E61-1" terminals of ECM connector.

Is voltage 1.0 - 1.6 V?
Go to Step 4. "PPL/WHT" circuit shorted to power supply line or open in "GRY/YEL" circuit. If OK, substitute a known-good MAF sensor and recheck.
MAF sensor performance check
  1. Start engine and measure voltage between "E61-27" and "E61-1" terminals of ECM connector.

Does voltage rise within 5 V range when engine speed is increased?
Substitute a known-good ECM and recheck. Substitute a known-good MAF sensor and recheck.
