Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor Inspection

  1. Confirm that terminal voltage at CMP sensor connector terminals is in good condition referring to Step 4 of DTC P0340: CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT .

    If voltage is specified value, go to next step.

    If voltage is out of specification, repair CMP sensor circuit.

    If their circuits are in good condition, check ECM referring to INSPECTION OF ECM AND ITS CIRCUITS .

  2. Check that CMP sensor signal voltage varies from low to high or from high to low as specified referring to Step 5 and 6 of DTC P0340: CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT .

    If signal voltage varies as specified, CMP sensor is in good condition.

    If signal voltage varies out of specification, replace CMP sensor.
