MIL Remains ON after Engine Starts: Troubleshooting

MIL REMAINS - TROUBLESHOOTING CHART

Step Action YES NO
DTC check 
  1. Start engine and recheck DTC of ECM and TCM while engine running.

Is there any DTC(s)? 
Go to Step 2 of ENGINE AND EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM CHECK  or Step 2 of A/T SYSTEM CHECK . Go to Step 2.
MIL circuit check 
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
  2. Remove combination meter referring to COMBINATION METER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. Disconnect connectors from ECM.
  4. Measure resistance between "PPL/YEL" wire terminal of combination meter connector and body ground.

Is resistance infinity? 
Go to Step 3. "PPL/YEL" circuit shorted to ground.
MIL circuit check 
  1. Connect connectors to combination meter.

Does MIL turn ON at ignition switch turned ON? 
Replace combination meter. Substitute a known-good ECM and recheck.
