Oil Pump Removal and Installation: Removal

  1. Disconnect negative cable at battery.
  2. Drain engine oil.
  3. Drain coolant COOLANT DRAINING .
  4. Remove oil pan, oil pump strainer and timing chain cover. Refer to OIL PAN AND OIL PUMP STRAINER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION  and TIMING CHAIN COVER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  5. Loosen oil pump chain guide bolts. Refer to OIL PUMP COMPONENTS .
  6. Remove oil pump (1) from crankcase (2).
    CAUTION: Do not remove oil pump sprocket or bolt.
    Otherwise, oil pump sprocket and/or oil pump rotor shaft might be damaged.
