DTC Troubleshooting

DTC DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLESHOOTING CHART

Step Action YES NO
Was "Engine and Emission Control System Check" performed?  Go to Step 2. Go to ENGINE AND EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM CHECK .
MAF sensor check
  1. Connect scan tool to DLC with ignition switch turned OFF.
  2. Start engine and check MAF value displayed on scan tool. Refer to SCAN TOOL DATA  for normal value.

Is normal value indicated?
Intermittent trouble. Check for intermittent referring to INTERMITTENT AND POOR CONNECTION INSPECTION . Go to Step 3.
MAF sensor power supply check
  1. With ignition switch turned OFF, disconnect MAF sensor coupler.
  2. With ignition switch turned ON, measure voltage between "BLU/BLK" wire terminal of MAF sensor coupler and engine ground.

Is voltage 10 - 14 V?
Go to Step 4. Open in "BLU/BLK" circuit.
MAF sensor output voltage check
  1. With ignition switch turned OFF, connect MAF sensor coupler.
  2. Remove ECM cover.
  3. With ignition switch turned ON leaving engine stopped, measure voltage between "E61-27" and "E61-1" terminals of ECM connector.

Is voltage 1.0 - 1.6 V?
Poor "E61-27" connection. If OK, substitute a known-good ECM and recheck. Faulty "PPL/WHT" wire. Poor "MAF sensor" coupler terminal connection. If wire and connection are OK, substitute a known-good MAF sensor and recheck.
