DTC Troubleshooting

TEST PROCEDURE - SEAT POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION

Step Action YES NO
  1. With ignition switch OFF, connect scan tool to DLC.
  2. Turn ON ignition switch.
  3. Check for OCM DTC displayed on scan tool.

Is DTC B1202 indicated? 
Go to Step 2. Intermittent trouble. Check for intermittent trouble referring to INSPECTION OF INTERMITTENT AND POOR CONNECTIONS .
  1. With ignition switch OFF, move passenger seat to forward or rearward.
  2. Turn ON ignition switch.
  3. Select "Data List" mode on scan tool.
  4. Check for "Pass seat position" displayed.

    Passenger seat position sensor signal specification 

    Seat position is in A part ((1) - (2)): "Forward" 

    Seat position is in B part ((2) - (3)): "Back"

  1. Full forward position
  2. About 4 notches from full forward
  3. Full backward position

Is check result satisfactory? 
Substitute a known-good OCM and recheck. Go to Step 3.
  1. With ignition switch OFF, disconnect connectors from OCM and passenger seat position sensor.
  2. Check for proper connection of OCM connector and passenger seat position sensor connector at "BRN/YEL" wire terminal and "BLK" wire terminals.
  3. Measure voltage between "L66-6" terminal of OCM connector and vehicle body ground, between "L66-12" terminal of OCM connector and vehicle body ground.

With ignition switch ON, is each measured value 1 V or less? 
Go to Step 4. "BRN/YEL" circuit or "BLK" circuit shorted to power supply circuit.
  1. With ignition switch OFF, measure resistance between "L66-6" terminal of OCM connector and vehicle body ground, between "L66-12" terminal of OCM connector and vehicle body ground.

Is resistance infinity? 
Go to Step 5. "BRN/YEL" circuit or "BLK" circuit shorted to ground.
  1. Using service wire (1), connect "L65-1" terminal and "L65-2" terminal of passenger seat position sensor connector.
  2. Measure resistance between "L66-6" terminal and "L66-12" terminal of OCM connector.

Is resistance 1 Ω or less? 
Faulty passenger seat position sensor. Replace passenger seat position sensor referring to SEAT POSITION SENSOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION . High resistance or open wire in "BRN/YEL" circuit or "BLK" circuit.
NOTE: Upon completion of inspection and repair work, perform the following items.
