Precautions for Vehicles Equipped with a Supplemental Restraint (Air Bag) System: Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Suzuki XL-7. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING:
  • The configuration of air bag system parts are as shown in the figure. When it is necessary to service (remove, reinstall and inspect) these parts, be sure to follow procedures described in PRECAUTIONS ON SERVICE AND DIAGNOSIS OF AIR BAG SYSTEM . Failure to follow proper procedures could result in possible air bag system activation, personal injury, damage to parts or air bag system being unable to activate when necessary.
  • If the air bag system and another vehicle system both need repair, SUZUKI recommends that the air bag system be repaired first, to help avoid unintended air bag system activation.
  • Do not modify the steering wheel, dashboard, or any other air bag system components. Modifications can adversely affect air bag system performance and lead to injury.
  • Do not modify the front seats (driver and passenger) and do not install accessory part like a seat cover, seatback tray, etc. on the passenger seat if equipped with the occupant classification system. Otherwise, the air bag system may not operate properly.
  • If the vehicle will be exposed to temperatures over 93 °C (200 °F) (for example, during a paint baking process), remove the air bag system components beforehand to avoid component damage or unintended air bag system activation.

  • For the air bag system equipped with the occupant classification system: When any of the following service works was performed, be sure to check the air bag system or the occupant classification system sensitivity and to rezero the occupant classification system in order indicated in table below. Otherwise, the air bag system may not operate properly and personal injury may result.
