Axle Lock Actuator and Motor On-Vehicle Inspection

- Disconnect negative (-) cable from battery.
- Disconnect axle lock actuator connector (1).
- Check axle lock actuator motor coil for continuity between terminals as shown in figure. If no continuity is found, replace axle lock actuator motor with new one.
- With the vehicle lifted so that both of the front wheels are off the ground, turn one of the front wheels by hand and check the other wheel, which should be activated as described below. If the result is not satisfactory, inspect differential assembly referring to FRONT DIFFERENTIAL INSPECTION : Front.
CAUTION:
Do not connect the battery to the axle lock actuator motor for more than 5 seconds because there is possibility that axle lock actuator motor might fail to operate properly.
- Connect the battery positive (+) terminal to the "GRN/YEL" wire of the axle lock actuator motor and the negative terminal (-) to the "GRN/BLK" wire of the axle lock actuator motor for 3 to 5 seconds, check if the other front wheel turn in the direction opposite to the tire turned by hand.
- Connect the battery positive (+) terminal to the "GRN/BLK" wire of the axle lock actuator motor and the negative terminal (-) to the "GRN/YEL" wire of the axle lock actuator motor for 3 to 5 seconds, check if the other front wheel should remain stationary while the tire being turned by hand.
