DTC Troubleshooting

DTC TROUBLESHOOTING CHART

Step Action YES NO
Was "4WD control system check" performed?  Go to Step 2. Go to 4WD Control System Check .
Transfer fork switch circuit check 
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
  2. Disconnect transfer fork switch connector "C81" after removing transmission shift lever assembly referring to MANUAL SELECTOR ASSEMBLY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or TRANSMISSION SHIFT CONTROL LEVER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. Check for proper connection to transfer fork switch terminals at "C81-1" and "C81-2".
  4. If OK, then measure voltage between "C81-1" terminal of transfer fork switch connector (engine harness side) and body ground with turning ignition switch ON position.

Is it 10 V or more? 
Go to Step 3. Go to Step 4.
Transfer fork switch circuit check 
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
  2. Measure voltage between "C81-1" and "C81-2" terminals of transfer fork switch connector (engine harness side) with ignition switch turned to ON position.

Is it 10 V or more? 
Go to Step 5. "BLK" wire is open or high resistance.
Transfer fork switch circuit check 
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
  2. Disconnect 4WD control module connector "E23".
  3. Check for proper connection to 4WD control module at terminal "E23-16".
  4. If OK, then measure resistance between "C81-1" terminal of transfer fork switch connector (engine harness side) and "E23-16" terminal of 4WD control module connector.

Is it 1 Ω or less? 
Substitute a known-good 4WD control module and recheck. "GRN/WHT" wire is open or high resistance.
Transfer fork switch check 
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
  2. Check transfer fork switch referring to 4WD Switch, 4WD Low Switch and Transfer Fork Switch Inspection .

Is it in good condition? 
Substitute a known-good 4WD control module and recheck. Faulty transfer fork switch.
