4WD Control System Operation Inspection

NOTE:
Transfer can then be shifted to 4H or 2H.
- If it is difficult to operate shift between 2H and 4H while vehicle is moving, stop vehicle and operate "2WD <--> 4WD" switch.
- 2WD/4WD indicator will blink during shifting process.
- When shifting to N or 4L does not work, try the following procedure.
- For M/T model, shift transmission to N (Neutral) position, turn ignition switch to ON position, depress clutch while engine is running, and then try shifting again.
- For A/T model, turn ignition switch to ON position, move vehicles lowly back or forth a few feet, and then try shifting again.
- When shifting from N does not work, turn ignition switch to ON position while 2WD/4WD indicator is blinking, wait for more than 5 seconds then start engine.
Transfer can then be shifted to 4H or 2H.
- Inspect shifting operation between 2H and 4H as follows.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position.
- Position front wheels to straight ahead state.
- Confirm that vehicle is under the following condition.
- Vehicle speed is less than 100 km/h (60 mph).
- Check that 4WD indicator turns on and off each time "2WD <--> 4WD" switch is pushed.
- Inspect shifting operation between 4H and 4L as follows.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position.
- Position front wheels to straight ahead state.
- Confirm that vehicle is under the following conditions.
- Transfer shift position is 4H.
- Transmission shift lever is "N" position. (for A/T model)
- Clutch is depressed fully. (for M/T model)
- Vehicle is stopped completely.
- Check that 4L indicators (in combination meter and "4L" switch) turn on and off each time "4L" switch is pushed.
- Inspect shifting operation between 2H and N as follows.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position.
- Position front wheels to straight ahead state.
- Confirm that vehicle is under the following conditions.
- Transfer shift position is 2H.
- Transmission shift lever is "N" position. (for A/T model)
- Clutch is depressed fully. (for M/T model)
- Vehicle is stopped completely.
- Check that N indicator and buzzer turn on and off each time "4L" switch is kept pushing for 5 seconds.
