Cruise Control Does Not Operate

CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

1 Check fuses F4.
Is either fuse blown?
- Go to Step 2 Go to Step 3

  1. Check for a short circuit and repair it, if necessary.
  2. Replace the blown fuse.

Is the repair complete?
- System OK -

  1. Turn the ignition ON.
  2. Check the voltage at fuses F4.

Is the voltage equal to the specified value?
11 - 14 V Go to Step 5 Go to Step 4
4 Repair the power supply to the fuse.
Is the repair complete?
- System OK -

  1. Turn the ignition ON.
  2. Turn the cruise control switch OFF.
  3. Use a voltmeter to check the voltage at terminal 10 of the C229 connector.

Is the resistance equal to the specified value?
≈ 0 Ω Go to Step 7 Go to Step 6
6 Repair the short to voltage between the cruise control on switch and the C229 connector terminal 10.
Is the repair complete?
- System OK -

  1. Turn the ignition ON.
  2. Turn the cruise control switch ON.
  3. Use a voltmeter to check the voltage at terminal 10 of the C229 connector.

Is the voltage equal to the specified value?
11 - 14 V Go to Step 9 Go to Step 8
8 Repair the open circuit between fuse F4 and the terminal 10 of the C229 connector.
Is the repair complate?
- System OK -

  1. Turn the ignition ON.
  2. Turn the cruise control switch ON.
  3. Check the voltage at terminals 11 and 5 of the C229 connector.

Is the resistance equal to the specified value?
≈ 0 Ω Go to Step 12 Go to Step 10
10 Replace the cruise control switch.
Is the repair complete?
- System OK -

  1. Turn the ignition ON.
  2. Turn the cruise control switch ON.
  3. Select SET on the cruise control switch.
  4. While holding the switch in the SET position, check the voltage at terminal 11 of the C229 connector.

Is the voltage equal to the specified value?
11 - 14 V Go to Step 12 Go to Step 13

  1. Turn the ignition ON.
  2. Turn the cruise control switch ON.
  3. Select RESUME on the cruise control switch.
  4. While holding the switch in the SET position, check the voltage at terminal 11 of the C229 connector.
  5. Is the voltage equal to the specified value?

Is the repair complete?
11 - 14 V - Go to Step 13
13 Replace the cruise control switch.
Is the repair complete?
