Removal Procedure

  1. Release the parking brake lever.
  2. Remove the rear wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.

  3. Remove the retaining ring for the parking brake cable on each side of the vehicle.
  4. Remove the plastic sleeve.
  5. Remove the brake cable from the parking brake shoe lever and from the brake backing plate.

  6. Remove the bolts that fasten the brake cable to the holding bracket on the rear axle.
  7. Remove the bolts from the rear axle mounting bracket on each side of the vehicle.
  8. Remove the bolt that fastens the brake cable to the underbody side bracket on each side of the vehicle. Remove the cable.

  9. Remove the parking brake cables from the welded body bracket.
