  1. Connect the Tech 2 scan tool to the vehicle DLC (Data Link Connector), and access DTC's stored in the ECM (Engine Control Module). Is the DTC P2135? If yes, continue to step 2 of this instruction. If no, stop this instruction and refer to the Forenza Service Manual concerning the DTC found.
  2. Inspect the Throttle Body to determine if it has been replaced with a countermeasure part, and now has a failure in a related circuit. The counter-measured part is identified by a Green Dot or a Blue Dot, as shown in Fig. 2  .
  3. Fig 2: Identifying Throttle Body

  4. If a green or blue dot is found proceed to step  5.
  5. If there is not a paint indicator/marking, please replace the Throttle Body assembly (*) according to the Service Manual replacement procedure, and then proceed to step 5.

    * Throttle Body replacement requires DOM authorization prior to repairs being made.

  6. Make note of the customers radio presets, disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  7. Inspect the harness connectors at the ETC (Electronic Throttle Control) and the ECM (Engine Control Module), shown in Fig. 3  , for any damage and/or improper seating/fastening.

  8. If no damage is found on the connectors, disconnect the harness at both locations and inspect the pin locations indicated in Fig. 4  , looking for bent/deformed terminals, corrosion, etc., and clean or repair as needed and proceed to step 8.

  9. If there are no problems with the connectors, or their terminals, apply Stabilant 22, Electric Contact Enhancer, or equivalent (see attached MSDS, this is not a dielectric grease) and then connect the harness to the ETC and ECM.
  10. In the event that an issue is found with the harness that cannot be repaired (this is rare), the harness may need to be replaced.
  11. Using the Tech 2 scan tool, clear the DTC and road test the vehicle.
