DTC P0630: VIN Not Programmed or Mismatched - Engine Control Module (ECM): Troubleshooting

TROUBLESHOOTING CHART

1 Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check? - Go to Step 2 Go to ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD II) SYSTEM CHECK

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
  3. With the scan tool, observe the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) information parameter.

Is the VIN information stored?		 - Go to Step 3 Go to Step 4

  1. Clear the DTCs with a scan tool.
  2. Turn the ignition OFF for 30 seconds.
  3. Turn the ignition ON.
  4. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Setting the DTC.

Does the DTC run and pass?		 - Go to Step 7 Go to Step 5
4 Using the scan tool, write the VIN information on the ECM.
Did you complete VIN writing?		 - Go to Step 6 -
5 Replace the ECM.
Did you complete the replacement?		 - Go to Step 6 -

  1. Clear the DTCs with a scan tool.
  2. Turn the ignition OFF for 30 seconds.
  3. Turn the ignition ON.
  4. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Setting the DTC.

Does the DTC run and pass?		 - Go to Step 7 Go to Step 2
7 Check if any additional DTCs are set.
Are any DTCs displayed that have not been diagnosed?		 - Go to applicable DTC TABLE System OK
