CONDITION

The engine may experience an extended cranking time during start up.

CAUSE

Various timing conditions may exist intermittently.

CORRECTION

DO NOT replace the ECM! Please reprogram (reflash) the ECM with updated software that has been improved for better starting performance. The SEPS database files installed on the PC or laptop being used must be version 2.011.0731 or later.

REQUIRED TOOLS

  1. PC or Laptop with the SEPS (Suzuki ECU Programming System) software installed and running with database version 2.011.0731 or later.
  2. J2534 pass-thru device
    • Suzuki SDS Tool Kit (Part number 09910-06520-B) or
    • Suzuki SDT Scan Tool (Part number 95171-00380)

SERVICE ACTION

  1. Connect the pass-thru device being used to the USB port of your PC or Laptop.
  2. Plug the pass-thru device into the DLC (Data Link Connector) of the vehicle being reprogrammed.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON (Run) position leaving the engine OFF.
  4. Start the SEPS software program on your PC, then follow the prompts to select the desired system controller to reprogram and the pass-thru device being used. Once communication has been established between the vehicle controller and the PC, confirm that the proposed system update information matches that listed in the "ECU Model List"  table included on the previous page of this bulletin. If all the data matches the update requirements continue forward through the software program prompts until the process is complete.
  5. Disconnect the pass-thru device from the vehicle.
  6. Road test the vehicle.
  7. The reprogram procedure is complete.
