Emissions Maintenance Reminder Reset - Procedure 01

  1. CHECK ENGINE light will blink (Samurai) or stay lit (Sidekick) at 50,000, 80,000 and 100,000 miles to indicate emission system maintenance is required.
  2. At 50,000 miles, replace PCV valve and inspect EGR system. At 80,000 miles, replace O2S sensor. At 100,000 miles, replace PCV valve, inspect catalytic converter for plugging, and inspect EGR system.
  3. After service has been performed, turn off CHECK ENGINE light by moving cancel switch to opposite position. Cancel switch is located behind steering column lower trim panel. See Fig 1.
