Adjustment Procedure

  1. Remove the left instrument panel (I/P) insulator panel. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL INSULATOR PANEL REPLACEMENT - LEFT SIDE .

    CAUTION:

    Proper stoplamp switch adjustment is essential. Improper stoplamp switch adjustment may cause brake drag, heat buildup and excessive brake lining wear.

  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the stop lamp switch.

  3. Rotate the switch counterclockwise and remove the switch from the switch retainer.
    NOTE:

    Do NOT depress the brake pedal assembly during the stop lamp switch installation. This will cause a drag condition on the brake.

  4. Install the switch to the bracket by turning and pushing the switch until the switch bottoms on the brake pedal.
  5. Connect the electrical connector to the stop lamp switch.
  6. Inspect the stop lamps for proper operation
  7. Install the left I/P insulator panel. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL INSULATOR PANEL REPLACEMENT - LEFT SIDE .
