DTC Troubleshooting

NOTE: Before this trouble shooting is performed, read the precautions for DTC troubleshooting by referring to PRECAUTIONS FOR DTC TROUBLESHOOTING .

TROUBLESHOOTING TABLE

1	Was "Engine and Emission Control System Check" performed?	Go to Step 2.	Go to ENGINE AND EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM CHECK .
2	Is DTC P0462/P0463 detected?	Proceed to DTC P0462/P0463: FUEL LEVEL SENSOR CIRCUIT LOW/HIGH .	Go to Step 3.
3	Do you have SUZUKI scan tool?	Go to Step 4.	Go to Step 5.
4	Change of fuel level check With ignition switch OFF, connect scan tool to DLC. With ignition switch ON leaving engine OFF, check "FUEL TANK LEVEL" displayed on scan tool. (L1) Add fuel of 3.7 liter (1 gal, 7.8 US pt) to fuel tank. With ignition switch ON leaving engine OFF, check "FUEL TANK LEVEL" displayed on scan tool. (L2) Is L2 higher than L1?	Intermittent trouble. If OK, substitute a known good ECM and recheck.	Go to Step 6.
5	Fuel level sensor signal voltage check Turn ignition switch OFF position. Remove ECM from its bracket with ECM connectors connected. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage between fuel level sensor signal circuit of ECM connector and vehicle body ground. (V1) Add fuel of 3.5 liter (1 gal, 7.8 US pt) to fuel tank. Measure voltage between fuel level sensor signal circuit of ECM connector and vehicle body ground. (V2) Is V2 lower than V1?	Intermittent trouble. If OK, substitute a known good ECM and recheck.	Go to Step 6.
6	Fuel level sensor check Check main and sub fuel level sensor for performance by referring to FUEL LEVEL SENSOR INSPECTION . Is it in good condition?	Go to Step 7.	Replace main and/or sub fuel level sensor.
7	Wire harness check Check fuel level sensor (main and sub) signal circuit for condition by referring to Step 3 of DTC P0462/P0463: FUEL LEVEL SENSOR CIRCUIT LOW/HIGH . Are they in good condition?	Substitute a known good ECM and recheck.	Repair or replace.
