DTC Troubleshooting

DTC TROUBLESHOOTING CHART

Step Action YES NO
1  Was "Engine and Emission Control System Check" performed?  Go to Step 2. Go to ENGINE AND EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM CHECK .
2  DTC Check 
Is there DTC(s) other than DTC P050A and P050B detected? 		 Go to applicable DTC diag. flow. Go to Step 3.
3  Idle speed check 
  1. Check idle speed referring to IDLE SPEED AND IAC THROTTLE VALVE OPENING INSPECTION .

Is it in good condition? 		 Go to Step 4. Go to "Improper engine idling or engine fails to idle" under ENGINE SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS .
4  Air intake and vacuum system check 
  1. Check air intake and vacuum system for clog, leakage and draw.

Is it in good condition? 		 Go to Step 5. Repair or replace defective parts.
5  PCV hose and valve check 
  1. Check PCV hose and valve referring to PCV VALVE INSPECTION .

Is it in good condition? 		 Go to Step 6. Repair or replace defective parts.
6  IMT valve and IMT vacuum tank assembly check 
  1. Check IMT valve and IMT vacuum tank assembly referring to IMT VACUUM TANK ASSEMBLY INSPECTION .

Is it in good condition? 		 Go to Step 7. Repair or replace defective parts.
7  Exhaust system check 
  1. Check exhaust system for clog and leakage.

Is it in good condition? 		 Go to Step 8. Repair or replace defective parts.
8  EGR valve check 
  1. Check EGR valve for clog and leakage referring to EGR VALVE ASSEMBLY INSPECTION .

Is it in good condition? 		 Go to Step 9. Repair or replace defective parts.
9  Ignition system check 
  1. Check ignition system referring to IGNITION SYSTEM CHECK .

Is check result satisfactory? 		 Go to Step 10. Repair or replace defective parts.
10  Fuel pressure check 
  1. Check fuel pressure referring to FUEL PRESSURE CHECK .

Is check result satisfactory? 		 Go to Step 11. Repair or replace defective parts.
11  Fuel injectors and its circuit check 
  1. Check fuel injectors referring to FUEL INJECTOR CIRCUIT CHECK .

Is check result satisfactory? 		 Go to Step 12. Repair or replace defective parts.
12  Electric throttle body check 
  1. Check throttle valve for operation referring to ELECTRIC THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION .

Is check result satisfactory? 		 Go to Step 13. Replace Electric throttle body assembly.
13  Engine mechanical check 
  1. Check engine mechanical for performance referring to ENGINE SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS .

Is it in good condition? 		 Substitute a known good ECM and recheck. Repair or replace defective parts.
