TPMS Check

TPMS DIAGNOSIS INTRODUCTION TABLE

Customer complaint analysis 
  1. Perform customer complaint analysis.

Was customer complaint analysis performed? 
Go to Step 2. Perform customer complaint analysis.
Visual inspection 
  1. Check for following faulty conditions.
    • Tire crack and damage
    • Wheel damage and deformation
    • Tire air leakage

Are they in good condition? 
Go to Step 3. Repair or replace malfunction parts.
DTC check, record and clearance 
  1. Perform "DTC check, record and clearance".

Is there any malfunction DTC(s)? 
Go to Step 4. Go to Step 7.
Problem symptom confirmation and recheck DTC 
  1. Drive vehicle at 40 km/h (25 mph) for 10 minutes or more.
  2. Recheck DTC by referring to DTC CHECK .

Is there any malfunction DTC(s)? 
Go to Step 5. Go to Step 6.
DTC troubleshooting 
  1. Check and repair according to applicable DTC diag flow.

Are check and repair complete? 
Go to Step 7. Check and repair malfunction part(s).
Intermittent problem check 
  1. Check for intermittent problems. Inspect for intermittent or poor connection.

Is there any faulty condition? 
Repair or replace malfunction part(s). Go to Step 7.
Final confirmation test 
  1. Clear DTC if any.
  2. Drive vehicle at 40 km/h (25 mph) for 10 minutes or more.
  3. Check DTC by referring to DTC CHECK .

Is there any malfunction code? 
Go to Step 5. END.

Step 1. Customer complaint analysis 

Record details of the problem (failure, complaint) and how it occurred as described by the customer. For this purpose, use of such a questionnaire form as shown in the figure will facilitate collecting information to the point required for proper analysis and diagnosis.

Step 2. Visual inspection 

Check each tire and wheel visually for installation condition, crack and damage. When anything abnormal is found, repair or replace.

Step 3. DTC check, record and clearance 

Perform DTC CHECK  procedure, record it and then clear it referring to DTC CLEARANCE .

DTC indicates malfunction that occurred in the system but does not indicate whether it exists now or it occurred in the past and the normal condition has been restored now. To check which case applies, clear DTC once and check whether or not any fault exists.

Step 4. Problem symptom confirmation and recheck DTC 

Check if what the customer claimed in "Customer questionnaire" is actually found in the vehicle and if that symptom is found, whether it is identified as a failure. (This step should be shared with the customer if possible.) Check warning light related to TPMS system referring to LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT CHECK . Drive vehicle at 40 km/h (25 mph) for 10 minutes or more and then recheck DTC referring to DTC CHECK .

Step 5. DTC troubleshooting 

Based on the DTC indicated in Step 3 and referring to the applicable DTC diag. flow, locate the cause of the trouble, namely in a sensor, receiver, wire harness, connector, BCM or other part and repair or replace faulty parts.

Step 6. Intermittent Problem Check 

Check parts where an intermittent trouble is easy to occur (e.g., wire harness, connector, etc.).

Step 7. Final Confirmation Test 

Confirm that the problem symptom has gone and the TPMS is free from any abnormal conditions. If what has been repaired is related to the malfunction DTC, clear the DTC once and then performing driving test, and confirm that no DTC is indicated.
