DTC Troubleshooting
DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
| Step | Action | YES | NO |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Was "Engine and Emission Control System Check" performed? | Go to Step 2. | Go to ENGINE AND EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM CHECK . |
| 2 | Check CKP sensor and starter motor (1) for resistance
CKP sensor resistance 484 - 656 kohm at 20°C, 68°F
Between CKP sensor terminal and ground resistance 1 Mohm or more . Were measured resistance valves in step 3 and 4 as specified? |
Go to Step 3. | Replace CKP sensor. |
| 3 | Check ECM voltage
Is voltage about 0 V at each terminal? |
Go to Step 4. | "BLK/RED" and/or "BRN" wire shorted to power supply circuit. If wires are OK, substitute a known-good ECM and recheck. |
| 4 | Check ECM circuit
Is there continuity? |
Go to Step 5. | Open wire in "BLK/RED" and/or "BRN" circuit. If wires are OK, substitute a known-good ECM and recheck. |
| 5 | Check wire circuit
Is resistance infinity? |
Go to Step 6. | "BLK/RED" and/or "BRN" wire shorted to ground circuit. |
| 6 | Check wire circuit
Is resistance below 670 ohm at 20°C, 68°F? |
Go to Step 7. | High resistance wire in "BLK/RED" and/or "BRN" circuit. |
| 7 | Check visually CKP sensor and sensor plate (5)
Are they in good condition? |
Intermittent trouble. Check for intermittent referring to INTERMITTENT AND POOR CONNECTION INSPECTION . Substitute a known-good ECM and recheck. | Clean, repair or replace. |
