DTC Detecting Condition and Trouble Area

DTC DETECTING CONDITION CHART

DTC detecting condition Trouble area
This DTC will be set when invalid VIN data is detected.
  • No VIN data
  • Scan tool connection
  • ECM power and ground circuits
  • ECM
DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

Step Action YES NO
Was "Engine and Emission Control System" performed?  Go to Step 2. Go to ENGINE AND EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM CHECK .
Is this DTC detected after registering the VIN?  Go to Step 3. Go to Step 5.
Check scan tool connection 
Check connector connection of scan tool to DLC and ECM.
Are connected conditions OK? 
Go to Step 4. Connect connector correctly.
Check ECM power and ground circuits 
  1. Check that ECM power supply circuit is 10 to 14 V.
  2. Check that ECM ground is good condition.

Are they checking results OK? 
Go to Step 5. Repair ECM power or ground circuit.
Registration data check 
Check registered VIN data referring to REGISTERED VIN DATA CHECK .
Is registration VIN data correctly? 
Go to step 6. Go to step 7.
DTC recheck 
  1. Clear DTC referring to DTC CLEARANCE .
  2. Turn off ignition switch.
  3. Turn on ignition switch and check DTC.

Is DTC P0630 still indicated? 
Go to Step 7. Intermittent trouble or faulty ECM.
Check for intermittent trouble referring to INTERMITTENT AND POOR CONNECTION INSPECTION .
VIN registration 
  1. Register VIN to ECM referring to VIN REGISTRATION .
  2. Turn off ignition switch.
  3. Turn on ignition switch and check DTC.

Is DTC P0630 still indicated? 
Substitute a known-good ECM and recheck. End.
