VSS Circuit Check

VSS CIRCUIT STEP ACTION REFERENCE

Step Action YES NO
1  Engine control module (ECM) DTC check 
  1. Check DTC in ECM referring to DTC CHECK .

Is DTC P0500 detected? 		 Go to DTC P0500: VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR . Go to Step 2.
2  Check VSS circuit for open 
  1. Disconnect VSS connector "C20" and cruise control module connector "E52" with ignition switch OFF.
  2. Check for proper connection to VSS connector at "C20-1" terminal and cruise control module connector at "E52-1" terminal.
  3. If OK, check for continuity between terminals "C20-1" and "E52-1".

Is check result satisfactory? 		 Go to Step 3. "PPL" circuit is open.
3  Check VSS circuit for short 
  1. Check for resistance between "E52-1" terminal and body ground.

Is resistance infinity? 		 VSS circuit is OK. "PPL" circuit is short.
