DTC Troubleshooting

DTC TROUBLESHOOTING CHART

Step Action Yes No
1 Was "Engine and Emission Control System Check" performed?  Go to Step 2. Go to "ENGINE AND EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM CHECK  ".
2 MAF sensor check 
  1. Connect scan tool to DLC with ignition switch turned OFF.
  2. Start engine and check MAF value displayed on scan tool. Refer to "SCAN TOOL DATA  " for normal value.

Is normal value indicated? 

Intermittent trouble. Check for intermittent referring to "INTERMITTENT AND POOR CONNECTION INSPECTION ". Go to Step 3.
3 MAF sensor output voltage check 
  1. Remove ECM cover.
  2. With ignition switch turned ON leaving engine stopped, measure voltage between "E61-27" and "E61-1" terminals of ECM connector.

Is voltage 1.0 - 1.6 V? 

Go to Step 4. "PPL/WHT" circuit shorted to power supply line or open in "GRY/ YEL" circuit. If OK, substitute a known-good MAF sensor and recheck.
4 MAF sensor performance check 
  1. Start engine and measure voltage between "E61-27" and "E61-1" terminals of ECM connector.

Does voltage rise within 5 V range when engine speed is increased? 

Substitute a known-good ECM and recheck. Substitute a known-good MAF sensor and recheck.
