Oil Pump Removal and Installation: Removal

  1. Disconnect negative cable at battery.
  2. Drain engine oil.
  3. Drain coolant "COOLANT DRAINING ".
  4. Remove oil pan, oil pump strainer and timing chain cover. Refer to "OIL PAN AND OIL PUMP STRAINER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION " and "TIMING CHAIN COVER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ".
  5. Loosen oil pump chain guide bolts. Refer to "OIL PUMP COMPONENTS ".
  6. Remove oil pump (1) from crankcase (2).
    CAUTION: Do not remove oil pump sprocket or bolt. Otherwise, oil pump sprocket and/or oil pump rotor shaft might be damaged.
