P/S Gear Box Assembly Removal and Installation: Removal
- Take out fluid in P/S fluid reservoir with syringe or such.
- Disconnect high pressure pipe (1) from steering gear box by removing union bolt (2).NOTE: As fluid flows out of disconnected joints, put a receptacle under joints or a plug to pipe.
- Disconnect low pressure hose (3) from steering gear box by removing clamp (5).NOTE: As fluid flows out of disconnected joints, put a receptacle under joints or a plug to hose.
- Remove steering lower shaft bolt (4).
- Hoist vehicle and remove both right and left wheels.
- Disconnect both right and left tie-rod ends from knuckle, refer to Steps 2) to 3) of "TIE-ROD END REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION :".
- Remove steering gear box mounting bolts (1) and then remove steering gear box from vehicle. Steering gear box found to be in defective condition should be replaced with a new one.
CAUTION:
Never disassemble P/S gear box. Disassembling will affect original performance of P/S gear box.
