DTC Troubleshooting

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE - DTC P0102 MASS AIR FLOW (MAF) SENSOR LOW INPUT

1 Perform an On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check.
Is the system check complete?
- Go to Step 2. Go to "ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD II) SYSTEM CHECK:

  1. Start the engine.
  2. Install a scan tool.
  3. With the throttle closed, select the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor parameter on the scan tool.

Is the MAF within the specified range?
90 ~ 130mg/stk Go to Step 3. Go to Step 4.

  1. Use the scan tool in order to clear the DTCs.
  2. Turn OFF the ignition for 30 seconds.
  3. Start the engine.
  4. Operate the vehicle within the conditions for setting the DTC as specified in the supporting text or until the DTC diagnostic has run.

Does the DTC run and pass?
- Go to Step 4. Go to "DIAGNOSTIC AIDS ".

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the MAF sensor connector.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, leaving the engine OFF.
  4. Measure the voltage from the MAF sensor ignition feed circuit using a DVM connected to ground.

Is the voltage near the specified value?
B+ Go to Step 5. Go to Step 6.

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Reconnect the MAF sensor connector.
  3. Start the engine.
  4. Backprobe the MAF sensor signal circuit at ECM using a DVM.
  5. Measure the voltage while the engine is idling.

Is the voltage within the specified range?
0.5 ~ 1.0 V Go to Step 9. Go to Step 7.
6 Repair the open or the short circuit in the MAF sensor ignition feed circuit.
Is the repair complete?
- Go to Step 10. -

  1. Check the MAF sensor signal circuit for the following conditions:
    • An open between the ECM and the MAF sensor.
    • A short between the ECM and the MAF sensor.
    • A poor connection at the MAF sensor.
  2. Repair as necessary.

Was a repair necessary?
- Go to Step 10. Go to Step 8.
8 Replace the MAF sensor.
Is the replace complete?
- Go to Step 10. -
9 Replace the ECM.
Is the replace complete?
- Go to Step 10. -

  1. Start the engine.
  2. Operate the vehicle within the conditions for setting the DTC as specified in the supporting text or until the DTC diagnostic test has run.

Does the DTC run and pass?
- Go to Step 11. Go to Step 2.
11 With a scan tool, observe the stored information.
Does the scan tool display any DTCs that you have not diagnosed?
- Go to applicable DTC TABLE . System OK
