Ignition Spark Test

  1. Remove engine cover from cylinder head cover referring to ENGINE COVER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  2. Disconnect injector harness coupler.
    WARNING: Without disconnection of injector coupler, combustible gas may come out from spark plug holes during this test and may get ignited in engine room.
  3. Remove ignition coil referring to "IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY (IGNITER AND IGNITION COIL) REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION :".
  4. Remove spark plug referring to "SPARK PLUG REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION :".
  5. Connect ignition coil coupler to ignition coil and connect spark plug to ignition coil.
  6. Ground spark plug to engine securely.
  7. Crank engine and check if spark plug sparks.

    8. If no spark is emitted, inspect spark plug, ignition coil, CMP sensor, igniter, etc.

  8. Install spark plug referring to "SPARK PLUG REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION :".
  9. Install ignition coil referring to "IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY (IGNITER AND IGNITION COIL) REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION :".
  10. Connect injector harness coupler.
  11. Install engine cover to cylinder head cover referring to ENGINE COVER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
