WAVEFORM REFERENCE

Step Action Yes No
1 Fuse check
  1. Check for fuse blow at "IG" fuse and "Fl" fuse (1).
G04013807

Are fuses in good condition?
Go To Step 2. Replace fuse and check for short in circuits connected to this fuse.
2 Main relay circuit check
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
  2. Remove main relay (2) from relay and fuse box.

  3. Check for proper connection to main relay connector at "BLK/YEL" and "BLK/RED" wire terminals.
  4. If OK, measure voltage between "BLK/YEL" wire terminals of main relay connector and body ground.

Is voltage 10 - 14 V?
Go To Step 3. Open wire in "BLK/YEL" circuit.
3 Main relay check
  1. Check for main relay referring to MAIN RELAY INSPECTION .

Is main relay in good condition?
Go To Step 4. Replace main relay.
4 Ignition signal check
  1. Disconnect connectors from ECM with ignition switch turned OFF.
  2. Check for proper connection to ECM connector at "C46-10", "C45-23", "G04-7", "G04-6", "C45-6", "C46-6" and "C45-2" wire terminals.
  3. Turn ignition switch to ON position.
  4. Measure voltage between "C46-10" wire terminal of ECM connector and body ground.

Is voltage 10 - 14 V?
Go To Step 5. Open wire in "BLK/ WHT" or "GRN" circuit.
5 Main relay circuit check
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
  2. Install main relay to relay and fuse box.
  3. Measure voltage between "C45-23" wire terminal of ECM connector and body ground.

Is voltage 10 - 14 V?
Go To Step 6. Go To Step 8.
6 Main relay circuit check
  1. Remove ECM from vehicle body referring to ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION and connect connectors to ECM.
  2. Turn ignition switch to ON position.
  3. Measure voltage between "C45-23" wire terminal of ECM connector and body ground.

Is voltage 0 - 1 V?
Go To Step 8. Go To Step 7.
7 ECM ground circuit check
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
  2. Disconnect connectors from ECM.
  3. Measure resistance between each "C45-6", "C46-6" and "C45-2" wire terminals of ECM connector and body ground.

Is resistance 1 Ω or less?
Intermittent trouble.
Check for intermittent referring to "INTERMITTENT AND POOR CONNECTION INSPECTION ."
If OK, substitute a known-good ECM and recheck.
Open or high resistance wire in "BLK/ORN" or "BLK" circuit.
8 Main relay circuit check
  1. Using service wire, ground "C45-23" wire terminal of ECM connector.
  2. Turn ignition switch to ON position.
  3. Measure voltage between each "G04-7" and "G04-6" wire terminals of ECM connector and body ground.

Is voltage 10 - 14 V?
Intermittent trouble.
Check for intermittent referring to "INTERMITTENT AND POOR CONNECTION INSPECTION ."
If OK, substitute a known-good ECM and recheck.
Go To Step 9.
9 Main relay circuit check
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
  2. Measure resistance between each "G04-7" and "G04-6" wire terminals of ECM connector and "BLK/RED" wire terminal of main relay connector.

Is resistance 1 Ω or less?
Open or high resistance wire in "BRN/WHT" circuit. Open or high resistance wire in "BLK/RED" circuit.
