EVAP Canister Vent Valve & Its Circuit Inspection

WARNING: Do not suck the air through valve. Fuel vapor inside valve is harmful.
CAUTION: When checking EVAP canister vent valve, do not apply compressed air. Compressed air could damage EVAP canister vent valve and cause fuel vapor leaks.
  1. Remove EVAP canister vent valve (1) referring to EVAP CANISTER VENT VALVE REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  .
  2. Connect connector to EVAP canister vent valve.
  3. With ignition switch ON, blow breath (2) into port (3). Breath should come out of port (4).

  4. Connect SUZUKI scan tool (1) to DLC (2) with ignition switch OFF.
  5. Turn ignition switch to ON position, clear DTC and select "MISC TEST" mode on SUZUKI scan tool.
  6. Check EVAP canister vent valve for operation when valve is switched ON by using SUZUKI scan tool. In this state, blow breath (3) from port (4). Breath should not come out of port (5). If check results are as describe above, EVAP canister vent valve and its circuit are in good condition. If not, check vent valve, wire harness and connections.
