Diagnostic Procedure
- If air bag diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If air bag diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSTICS.
- Check jumper wire between air bag monitor coupler terminals. If wire is securely connected, go to next step. If wire is not securely connected, connect wire securely and go to step 5.
- Using a jumper wire, connect air bag monitor coupler terminal No. 1 to body ground (not coupler terminal No. 4). See Fig 1. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If AIR BAG warning light does not flash correct DTC flash pattern, go to next step. If AIR BAG warning light begins to flash correct DTC flash pattern, an open or high resistance condition exists in Black wire between air bag monitor coupler and ground. Replace wiring harness and go to step 5.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect SDM connector. See Figure. Measure resistance between SDM connector terminal No. 30 and air bag monitor coupler terminal No. 1. See Figure & Fig 1
. If resistance is one ohm or less, replace SDM. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to next step. If resistance is more than one ohm, an open or high resistance condition exists in Violet wire. Replace wiring harness and go to next step.
- Reconnect all air bag system components. Using scan tool, clear all DTCs. Go to AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSTICS.
