Fluid Pressure Test (If Equipped with LSPV)

Before testing, confirm the following.

  1. Stop vehicle on level floor and place approximately about 2,000 N (200 kg, 441 lbs) weight on rear housing so that rear axle weighs 8,000 N (800 kg, 1,764 lbs).

    Rear axle weight 

    "L": 8,000 N (800 kg, 1,764 lbs) 

  2. Install special tool to front and rear brake.
    NOTE: Special tool(s) should be connected to breather of front (driver's side brake) and rear brakes.

    Special tool 

    (A): 09956-02311 

    (B): 09952-46510 (Attachment for thread diameter 8 mm of bleeder plug) 

    (B): 09952-36311 (Attachment for thread diameter 7 mm of bleeder plug) 

    (C): 55473-82030 (Air bleeder plug supplied as a spare part) 

    NOTE:
    • For brake with bleeder plug (thread diameter: 10 mm) install special tool (A) (fluid pressure gauge).
    • For brake with bleeder plug (thread diameter: 8 mm) install special tool (a) (except attachment) and special tool (B) (attachment).
    • For brake with bleeder plug (thread diameter: 7mm) install special tool (A) (except attachment) and special tool (B) (attachment).

  3. Depress brake pedal gradually till fluid pressure of front brake becomes as specified and check corresponding pressure of rear brake then. It should be within specification.

    Rear brake pressure with applied by 8,000 kPa (80 kg/cm 2 , 1,138 psi) on front brake 

    3-door model: 6,000-7,300 kPa (60-73 kg/cm 2 , 853-1,038 psi) 

    5-door model: 4,500-7,300 kPa (45-73 kg/cm 2 , 640-1,038 psi) 

  4. As done above, apply 10,000 kPa (100 kg/cm2 , 1,422 psi) pressure to front brake and check that rear brake pressure then is within specification as given below.

    Rear brake pressure with applied by 10,000 kPa (100 kg/cm 2 , 1,422 psi) on front brake 

    3-door model: 6,500-8,000 kPa (65-80 kg/cm 2924-1,138 psi) 

    5-door model: 5,000-8,000 kPa (50-80 kg/cm 2 , 711-1,138 psi)

  5. If rear brake pressure is not within specification, adjust it by changing stay (3) position as follows.

    Tightening torque 

    LSPV stay bolt (a): 23 N-m (2.3 kg-m, 17.0 lb-ft) 

    • If rear brake pressure is higher than specification, move stay (3) to direction "a" and if it is lower, to direction "b".
    • Repeat Steps 3)-5) until rear brake pressure is within specification.
    • After adjustment, be sure to torque bolt to specification.

  6. Disconnect brake pipe (2) (connecting between master cylinder secondary side and 4-way joint) from master cylinder(1).

    Tighten plug (special tool (A)) to master cylinder.

    Depress brake pedal. If rear brake pressure is 9,500-10,000 kPa (95-100 kg/cm2 , 1,350-1,422 psi) when front brake pressure is 10,000 kPa (100 kg/cm2 , 1,422 psi), it means that front fail-safe system functions properly.

    Rear brake pressure with applied by 10,000 kPa (100 kg/cm 2 -, 1,422 psi) on front brake 

    9,500-10,000 kPa (95-100 kg/cm 21,350-1,422 psi) 

    Special tool 

    (A): 09956-02210

  7. Upon completion of fluid pressure test, bleed brake system and perform brake test.
